A man with a knife killed nine middle school boys and at least 10 wounded on Friday as they returned home in northern China, local authorities said.
The 28-year-old man, originally from Zhaojiashan Village in Mizhi County, Shaanxi Province, was arrested and injured middle school boys were hospitalised, the local Department of Public Security said on social media.
Seven girls and two boys were killed, according to China’s official Xinhua news agency, citing a police source.
The age of the victims has not been specified, but middle school boys in China are usually between 12 and 15 years old.
